THE DOG

Some time in the 1950’s I was visiting with my friend’s family in Toronto, Ont. Canada, where I grew up My friend’s father who was a respected chemist/scientist told me a tale that had happened to him recently. He had returned home one evening to find a weird looking dog on his veranda. The dog seemed to want to come in the house with him and he, feeling sorry for the dog in the cold of the late fall, took the dog in, fed it and place an ancient coat on the floor in the kitchen for a bed. In the morning he let the dog out and it trotted away.

Later that day he received word that his brother, who lived in New York City, had died suddenly. He made arrangements to leave immediately for New York. When he arrived there many hours later, he made his way to his late brother’s home. He rang the doorbell and waited for his sister-in-law to let him in. When she opened the door he saw beside her the dog that had visited him the previous night.

Dr.M was very silent after telling me this tale. I don’t reckon he shared it with his family and this is the first time I have related it and it happened about 65 years ago. E.Mader

NIGHT IN THE DESERT

Hi, back in 1980, a friend and I were in high school and spent a lot of time exploring the desert near Tucson, Arizona. One night in October (don’t remember the date), I was spending the night at his house. He lived in a ancient ranch house that had a ancient barn/shed near a dry river bed where we used to sleep in so we could talk and wander around at night. This night was a small cold for October and it was clear with no moon.

Anyhow, it was around 1 AM and we were about a mile away from his house in the riverbed talking. We had a miner’s lamp that was operated by a 12 volt battery and was worn on his head. It cast a half mile beam. Ahead of us was a tall (20 plus feet) Palo Verde tree which was very thickly covered with branches so we couldn’t easily see the other side. Suddenly, the tree shook violently and we heard a loud snort like sound. Fearing a pack of Javalinas (wild pigs) or maybe a loose bull we froze. My friend shone his light on the tree about our eye height and we saw nothing. The tree shook again but higher up. He fixed the light on the tree about 15 feet off the ground. What we saw we will never forget, two huge blue eyes set about 1 foot apart! Again the tree shook followed by the sound of 2 heavy feet running the other way. Needless to say, we ran the other way!

The next day we returned to search the area. We found large footprints going the other way. The weird thing is there were sightings of weird lights in the area skies for the next couple of weeks. This happened on the west side of town at the base of the Tucson Mountains.

BLUE LIGHT?

Dear Lon,

I am writing about an incident that happened several months ago. First, let me say that your site rocks. I live on an acreage 5 1/2 miles from the town of Hampton, Iowa. Late last summer there was an incident in the town that we heard over the police scanner about 9:30-10:00 p. m. People were calling in to the police department saying they were having distress sleeping because there was a bright blue light just pouring through their windows.

After several of these calls, one police officer came on the scanner saying that he was a few miles on the edge of town and he could really see what was a vivid blue ceiling type effect covering the whole town.

Within minutes, there were several calls coming in from the different officers and a few business owners saying that their electronic gadgets, ie: door locks, shop lights, etc. were all going crazy. The police, who have as part of there nightly rounds check all the doors on the main street businesses to make sure they are locked, were reporting that they were having to backtrack and redo their routine.

I couldn’t see anything from where I live and after a small amount of time, nothing else was said. I imagined they might have switched channels or scrambled the channel. The next day when I went to town and questioned a few people who I know to be honestly open minded like myself, if they had seen/heard anything about the blue light or the electric gadgets freaking out. Nobody seemed to know anything or to have heard anything.

I waited for our weekly paper to come out and checked the neighboring town papers for anything about it, but, nothing showed up. I just wanted to know if anyone else has written about this or if anyone has ever had anything like this happen in their area.

I have some very terrible news for all the UFO debunkers in the world…sorry, ancient chum, you are faced with the most horrible fate a debunker could have, a regular debunkers hell…a never ending UFO FLAP!

We all write about the internet and how it has changed the UFO frontier but something else has happened that is has hardly been noticed. We now have a never ending UFO flap via the internet from all over the world. Day after day we see a UFO flap end in one country, only to see another UFO flap start up in another. Now it doesn’t take days or weeks to read about these fantastic reports. We read about them on the internet nearly instantaneously. This, of course, generates interest in UFOs in many counties which generates more people looking up which generates more UFO sightings. This is a win/ win situation.

UFOs have been reported worldwide for over 60 years but it was hardly known to the public. Now we have UFOs springing up and hitting the internet every day in one area or another. UFOs travel around the planet. They even seem to visit certain areas repeatedly so the only reason they are missed is because no one is bothering to look up. In huge cities people tend not to look up. Believe me, I live in New York City and I have observed people and noticed they just don’t look up except to see the architecture of a building or for an address. But, people who do see UFOs in New York City are people who are interested and go up on their roofs and star stare. We just had two friends come into the “NY UFO Meeting Group” and talk about objects they witnessed while on a roof.

Most of us who have been around the UFO corner a few times know UFOs are a very vital matter…no matter what they turn out to be. UFOs not only act intelligent, they act very intelligent. They are not “Star Trek” propelled forward by something shooting out of their rears. They are way beyond classic science fiction because they easily defy the laws of physics. UFOs became a modern phenomenon around the most perilous time in human history. The Second World War and the nuclear buildup were beyond question a time of stress for the whole planet. UFOs frightened people. The majority of the excellent sightings, along with the atomic bomb and rockets, made many more Americans take notice of UFOs. I remember my brother reading in the NY Times about UFOs around Washington DC. It was the headline. UFOs didn’t start to appear in the New Mexico skies because we were frightened of the bomb; UFOs started appearing in the Mexican skies despite our dread of the bomb. If there was one thing the people back there didn’t want … it was a new dread.

UFOs have challenged our physical laws. This is a huge one for scientist to swallow. Humans have figured out the basic laws of physics and have even gone beyond that. When most of that is figured out wouldn’t the next step be to try and change the laws of physics? Are we on the verge of this now?

It takes a cultural shock for the larger population to respond to UFOs. This has happened in the past with UFOs and will happen again. These sensational UFO reports are commonly UFO encounters by unimpeachable witnesses who shock the world…at least for a time. Now, what you have is country after country producing these impeccable UFO witnesses in real time via the internet. We also now have UFO spotters in different countries; people who spend part of their lives watching the skies and it seems to pay off. We have more Americans believing UFOs are real than any other time in the history of our country.

I predict this summer will contain some of the most startling UFOs encounters to date. This winter has been a terrible one (where is global warming when you need it?) and people don’t tend to stay outside and look at the stars in an especially snowy, cold winter. If we take a look at the recent reports in the National UFO Reporting Center we find that November, December, and January of 2009/2010 respectively had 300, 255, 239 UFO reports, this in contrast to 569,469, 579 reported cases in July, August, September of 2009 when warm weather abounds.

What does all this mean? Well, it means that people are interested. They are looking up more now than ever and they are seeing things. UFOs are second only to pornography in interest on the internet and just like porn, it’s not going away. Haven’t you noticed during this cold winter just when you thought UFOs sightings were dying down, something happened some place in the world to spark tremendous UFO interest again? This is not going to end because the internet, so far, is not driven just by commercialism; it is driven by information gathering.
